Gut - Brain Restoration Workshop

To be able to restore your health: you not only need to look at your environment, diet, exercise and lifestyle but how your internal body is physically functioning and that starts with your most important body part: your stomach.
Behind the curtain, our stomach is responsible for putting our body into working order. It does more than digest the foods we eat, as it breaks down the foods, our gut absorbs nutrients that support our bodily functions from:

  • Energy production.

  • Hormone balance.

  • Skin health.

  • Mental health.

  • Immune function in the body.

  • Toxin and waste elimination.

Have you ever had a gut feeling or butterflies in your stomach?

These sensations emanating from your belly suggest that your brain and gut are connected. What’s more, recent studies show that your brain affects your gut health and your gut may even affect your brain health. The communication system between your gut and brain is called the gut-brain axis. These two organs are connected both physically and biochemically in a number of different ways.

The Vagus Nerve and the Nervous System

Neurons are cells found in your brain and central nervous system that tell your body how to behave. There are approximately 100 billion neurons in the human brain. Interestingly, your gut contains 500 million neurons, which are connected to your brain through nerves in your nervous system. The vagus nerve is one of the biggest nerves connecting your gut and brain. It sends signals in both directions. So, if all this is not functioning properly on any level, then issues start to appear in the form of:

  • Joint pain.

  • Inflammation throughout your body.

  • Feeling stressed.

  • IBS, diarrhoea, or digestion issues.

  • Trouble sleeping.

  • Residual pain from old injury.

  • Experiencing anxiety/depression.

  • Hormone imbalance.

  • Stiffness throughout your body.

  • Feeling tired or sluggish during the day.

The gut health classes suit all ages, levels and personality types. My classes are judgement-free, welcoming spaces where you are made to feel calm, supported in all manners, included and appreciated. You can expect to be comfortable whether on a chair or a mat on the floor regarding your physical needs. From here, l will teach and guide you through the sessions, with opportunities to have assistance and ask questions at any stage. You will learn to become aware and feel the different sensations within your body and love how it feels to nurture yourself in this quiet time. You will learn to rebalance your stomach and Vagus nerve on a physical level.

Over my 20+yrs of being a Remedial Massage Therapist, l’ve learnt from working with clients that their common major areas which are dysfunctional are actually linked and associated with many other areas, especially the stomach. So, if l only focus on where it hurts and not follow the other associated elements it communicates with which also needs attention, the issue ends up just being like a band aide effect, it is not restored to functioning fully.

What can l expect in these classes?

So, throughout these 4 classes, you will learn:

  • How to affectively stimulate the Belly Button and what it affects and relates.

  • How to massage the stomach with attention given to the Ileocecal Valve, to stop the dysfunction it’s been creating and start generating the healing process your body needs to regain health.

  • You will also learn how important the function of your Vagus nerve is, which is linked and communicates to your stomach.

  • You will learn exercises to reset the Vagus Nerve.

  • You will learn to focus on your breathing to promote relaxation and healing.

  • You will have the option of dry needling within the class if required to help your body respond quicker.

  • You will learn some acupressure points and exercises to help stimulate your body to regain balance.

  • How to release muscle tension in the lower stomach to relieve lower back and hip discomfort.
